Sky News host Peta Credlin says there is “too much hiding behind unelected and unaccountable officials” with even more sub-contracting out of the hard choices “we elect leaders to make”.
Ms Credlin pointed to the state premiers who have on many occasions deferred to the health officials to justify decision making such as Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk who turned to the chief medical officer when explaining state border closures.
“A politician is accountable for the decisions they make in a way a bureaucrat never is”.
“So enough of being treated like toddlers I reckon. It’s fast becoming the ultimate nanny state for premiers on a power trip and the goodwill they’ve earned with Australians to date, is fast slipping away.”
