Let’s get this straight – while all the ‘best’ bass guitars were designed in the 1950s and 60s, when it comes to boutique basses of the 1970s, Ken Smith was well ahead of the pack.

In this week’s new video I’m going to talk you through the history behind my very own Ken Smith, which is one of the very few basses made by both Ken Smith and Vinnie Fodera before the two legendary builders went their separate ways.

Seriously, in the immortal words of Spinal Tap’s Nigel Tuffnel, “This is the top of the heap right here.” The playability is out of this WORLD!

In this video you’re going to learn:
– All about the history of boutique basses.
– And the iconic bassists who played them!
– From Stanley Clarke and his Alembic to Anthony Jackson’s contrabass guitar.
– Plus: Did Paul Reed Smith really make the first 5-string bass?

As always, see you in the shed…

Scott 🙂
